ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the application and effect of the virtual reality (VR) combined with the augmented reality (AR) integrated teaching system in stomatology general medical education of clinical medicine students. Methods:A total of 160 undergraduates from the five-year clinical medicine Batch 2015 of Naval Medical University were randomly divided into VR+AR group and traditional group, with 80 students in each group. A comparative analysis was made on the previous and teaching achievements of the two groups of students, and a questionnaire survey was conducted after the completion of the class. Epidata 3.0 was used to input questionnaire data, and SPSS 23.0 software was used to carry out t test, chi-square test and Fisher precision test. Results:There was no statistical difference in written test scores between the VR+AR group and the traditional group [(52.65±3.76) vs. (51.90±3.46), P=0.516], but the VR+AR group was significantly higher than the traditional group in case analysis scores [(35.85±2.56) vs. (31.40±2.96), P < 0.001] and overall performance [(88.50±4.95) vs. (83.30±4.86), P= 0.002]. The questionnaire survey results showed that the scores of "teaching mode" [(92.30±6.90) vs. (85.20±7.30), P<0.001], "teaching method" [(91.70±5.90) vs. (86.00±6.70), P=0.012] and "teaching improvement" [(90.70± 8.70) vs. (82.30±8.40), P<0.001] in VR + AR group were significantly higher than those in the traditional teaching group. Conclusion:The VR combined with AR integrated teaching system can significantly improve teaching performance and teaching quality, and is convenient for teaching demonstrations and simulation operations in small oral spaces, and is especially suitable for oral general medical education for clinical medicine.

ABSTRACT

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is now a major public health problem worldwide. Infectivity of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is extremely strong. The one major target of the virus is the lung, which leads to the deaths of respiratory distress syndrome and multiple organ failure. The kidney is also one of the main organs attacked by viruses, which directly damage the renal tubules through angiotensin converting enzyme-2 and cause cytokine storm, resulting in kidney damage and increasing the risk of death in the patients. Early investigation of risk factors for kidney injury, detection of kidney injury indicators, timely supporting treatment and renal replacement therapy for the existence of kidney injury patients are useful for reducing the mortality rate of COVID-19 patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of Bortezomib on renal tubular epithelialmesenchymal transition (EMT),and to determine whether Smad ubiquitin regulatory factor 2 (Smurf2) expression induced by tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) can be reversed by Bortezomib in human renal tubular epithelial cells (HK-2).Methods The HK-2 cells were divided into control group (cultured with fetal bovine serum),TNF-α group (cultured with TNF-α),Bortezomib group (cultured with Bortezomib) and experimental group (treated with Bortezomib and TNF-α together). Each group of cells was observed under an inverted microscope, and then the cells of each group were collected.RT-PCR and Western blotting were performed to detect the expression levels of fibronectin (FN),Smurf2,E-cadherin and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA).Results As compared with the TNF-α-treated group, the morphology of HK-2 cells was still cobblestone-like after intervention with bortezomib;however, the cellular morphology did not change significantly in the bortezomib-treated group as compared with the control group. As compared with the control group, the expression of FN mRNA and protein in the TNF-α group was significantly increased (P<0.05).As compared with the TNF-α group, bortezomib inhibited the expression of FN induced by TNF-α (P<0.05) There was no significant difference in the expression of FN between bortezomib-treated group and control group (P >0.05).As compared with the control group,E cadherin was significantly decreased in HK-2 cellsafter treatment with TNF-α,and α-SMA was significantly increased (P<0.05).As compared with TNFα group,co-stimulation with bortezomib reversed the expression of E cadherin and α-SMA induced by TNF-α (P < 0.05),but the expression of E-cadherin and α-SMA did not change significantly in the bortezomib-treated group as compared with the control group (P > 0.05).As compared with the control group,TNF-α could increase the expression of Smurf2 mRNA and protein (P<0.05),and bortezomib could inhibit the increase in Smurf2 induced by TNFα (P<0.05).As compared with the control group, the expression of Smurf2 did not change significantly in the bortezomib-treated group (P>0.05).Conclusion Bortezomib can antagonize the expression of Smurf2 and EMT induced by TNF-α in HK-2 cells.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the relationship between stenosis of intra- or extra-cranial cerebral large artery and capsular warning syndrome(CWS). Methods Eleven consecutive CWS patients hospitalized during period of time from November 2008 to December 2009 were retrospectively analyzed.Result In these 11 patients with CWS, 5 patients had motor symptoms only, 4 patients had pure sensory symptoms, and 2 patients had sensorimotor symptoms. Ten patients underwent cervical contrast-enhanced MRA and intracranial MRA examination. The results showed no sign of arterial stenosis. Seven CWS patients eventually had strokes, 1 progressed to stroke despite receiving the therapy of antiplatelet and anticoagulation. All stroke lesions were located in the capsula interna. All the CWS patients had vascular risks: 7 were smoker, 8 had hypertension, 1 had diabetes mellitus, and 5 had hyperlipidemia. One patient had a history of previous stroke; no patient had a history of ischemic heart disease or atrial fibrillation. At follow-up(10. 2 ±3.4)mouths, the average modified Rankin scale score for all patients was 0. 73 ± 1.20.Conclusion CWS was not associated with stenosis of the intra and extra-cranial large cerebral arteries.CWS may be associated with small-vessel single-penetrator disease.
